Brief Intervention Cessation Counselling Training Opportunity

BICC Training workshops are available to all workplaces.

Participants will learn the skills required to discuss smoking cessation effectively with a smoker.  It only takes a few minutes to help a smoker whether they are in the workplace as a client or a co-worker, or in the community as family or friends.  A brief intervention by a caring person with the evidence-based information learned at this workshop can significantly improve the chance that a smoker will make a successful quit attempt.

  • The instructor for this workshop is a trained cessation specialist on staff with the Northwestern Health Unit.
  • Each workshop is 4.0 hours long.
  • There is no fee for the BICC trainer; however the host is asked to provide the venue and refreshments.

For more information regarding a BICC Training opportunity for your workplace, please contact Christine McLeod, Tobacco Free Living Health Promoter at the Northwestern Health Unit (807) 223-3301 ext. 233.

Availability of this workshop is subject to funding.
